Where Will I Live in Summer 2019?
They say, if you make a wish at the Trevi Fountain, you'll come back to Italy one day...
I am excited to say two years later my wish has come true! I will be moving to Milan, Italy in June 2019 to study at a private fine arts university, Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti, or NABA for short.
I have been to Italy once in the past, after graduating in 2017 with a former teacher and classmates from high school. During this trip with EF tours (my 2nd time traveling to Europe with this company), we went to Paris, Monaco, Monte Carlo, Pisa, Rome, Capri, Pompeii and Sorrento. This trip was an amazing experience and opened my eyes to the rich Italian culture.
Milan is a fashion capital of the world that I have always believed studying there will encourage me to become a unique designer with my extensive cultural experiences and travels. During my month of studying abroad, I will receive 6 credits contributing towards my concentration in apparel design. Once I return from winter break, I am meeting with a study abroad advisor at UA to help determine which credits I should enroll in. I am most interested in fashion marketing and communication, fashion design II, and fashion image and styling II.
During my stay in Milan, I will live in a shared house with anywhere from 2-8 other students, who will also studying at NABA. I am hoping my request for a private bedroom with a shared bathroom in the house will be fulfilled. The houses are about a 20 minute commute to campus. I am so excited that my unknown future roommates can be from anywhere in the world, exposing me to further cultural exploration.
This unique experience to study in another country allows me the opportunity to grow myself as a designer and understand the fashion industry in different view. Bring on the endless bowls of pasta, weekend traveling, passport stamps and cultural immersion waiting for me in June 2019.
Until then...
XOXO,
Kenzie Rae
