Summer 2019: Milan
June 20th: Florence to Milan
Our 11am train was delayed, so there was a bit of waiting at the station. About an hour and a half later, I was in my new home, Milano! The feel is that of New York population & Parisienne like streets, boutiques and buildings. We have large accommodations at the Sheraton Hotel Diana Majestic, which is always refreshing in Europe. We walked over 5 miles seeing this city today, including: nearly all of the fashion district and the outstanding Duomo Cathedral. We climbed to the top spires and roof, it was such a different experience than any other cathedral tour I’ve been apart of, as we got to soar to the highest point of the church. We wandered the streets a bit more and headed in the direction of our hotel for an early night of appertivos and good company. Tonight, I packed my luggage to be ready to move into my new home tomorrow! Via Tibaldi 2, here I come!
June 21st: Milan
Today we walked the down to the Garibaldi area, finding a wedding dress shop & “Eataly”. I then had a 12:30pm check in time for my apartment and an orientation later in the evening. My flat has 4 girls living in it, with a kitchen, 2 bathrooms, 2 single bedrooms and one double. To my surprise, one of my flatmates also attends Alabama, Roll Tide! I was lucky enough to have my single bedroom request fulfilled. It exceeded my expectations in its size, as my room has a bed, nightstand, wardrobe, couch, desk and a huge balcony. We live on the 6th floor, so we have a great view of the outskirts of the city. We are only a 7 minute walk to school. After my orientation for school, we had appertivos at the Aperol sky lounge next to the cathedral; it had such amazing views.
XOXO,
