My bedroom in the White House!

My bedroom in the White House!

Long over due post coming at you! This year I’m living in my sorority, Phi Mu, for junior year. I’m rooming with my best friend Molly, whom I lived with last year. This is my first time ever sharing a bedroom & using a communal bathroom, but I’d say I’m certainly not slumming it in the White House.

Our bedroom layout is very functional; our dresser drawers are built in under the beds, there is a ton of storage at the foot of our bed with the ceiling tall bookcase, and I love our dual vanity/desk towers. Our closets are found closest to the door and have a lot more storage than I expected.

Bed

My white bedding is from Pottery Barn Teen, I saved it from my freshman year dorm. My throw pillows are from Kate Spade (Diary of a Young Lady of Fashion & Watercolor Model), Wayfair (Fringe) and Etsy (Monogram). My throw blanket was found at Homegoods. The pink tufted ottoman was snagged on sale at Target last year!

Bookcase

A lot of what’s decorating my bookshelf is what I’d normally hang on a wall, but since we can’t hang anything in the sorority I've made do with propping up my framed items and used this space to display a few of my favorite fashion books. I also can’t forget about my essential oil diffuser that I like to run 24/7; my favorite oil is eucalyptus.

Photo board

My cork board is heavily decorated with Bid Day fans, pictures of friends and family and outlined with ribbon I bought at Hobby Lobby to cover up any excess cork that was peeking through.

Vanity

Above my vanity, you can see more fashion books, vases, geode, “M” wood letter, and a storage basket all from Homegoods, World Market and Pier 1. The blush faux fur rug covering my acyclic desk chair was scouted at Homegoods. On the vanity itself, I keep my Pottery Barn jewelry box, necklace holder and perfume tray both from Homegoods.

Sette & Table

My gray settee was bought 2 years ago at Homegoods, read my College Bedroom 2018/19 post to hear how I found that. The side table was bought around the same time, also from Homegoods. Recently, I got a little overzealous (Me? Never!) and bought a loveseat that I was under the impression would be blush pink. After waiting for it to be delivered for over a month, I was so unhappy to find it more of a grayish purple color and sent it back after all that trouble. I swallowed my extra-ness that day, and brought back my tried and true settee to tuck in the space.

Rugs

Both the pink runner between the beds and the trellis pink and ivory rug by the vanities are from Wayfair. I love the hardwood in the room, but the rugs made it feel so much more homey.

Balcony

Room 213 is the best in my opinion, because we have a shared balcony with our room neighbors that no other bedroom has! This was my top reason for picking this bedroom when given the option last year. This outdoor living space as I like to call it, has been great for taking our gameday pictures and having a perfect view of Bryant Denny Stadium!

While my time in the house will only last for this year, I’m soaking up every minute of having the convenience of living on campus again. It’s been great to leave my room only 10 minutes before my classes in Doster, the HES College, which is right down the street. Cheers to a great Junior Year!

XOXO from Room 213,

Kenzie Rae
